Terms of Service
Rules for using Discover DeSoto, the official destination website of DeSoto County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Cedar Hill Farm, Hernando
On this page
Effective date: July 18, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Discover DeSoto (the "Site"), operated by DeSoto County Convention & Visitors Bureau (the "Bureau," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Who we are
Discover DeSoto is the public destination brand of DeSoto County Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Site helps visitors explore dining, lodging, attractions, events, towns, and trip ideas across DeSoto County, Mississippi.
The Site is an informational tourism resource. It is not a booking, reservation, or payment platform.
2. Eligibility and acceptable use
You may use the Site for lawful, personal, and non-commercial trip-planning purposes. You agree not to:
- Misuse the Site, attempt to disrupt it, or access it through unauthorized means
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-copy Site content in a way that harms Site performance or violates these Terms
- Submit unlawful, harassing, deceptive, or abusive content through forms or the Trip Planner
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any organization
- Use the Site to attempt to book, pay for, or reserve services through Discover DeSoto itself
3. Directory listings and partner links
Listings for attractions, restaurants, lodging, events, and related partners are curated for visitor information. Each listing may include an outbound link to the partner's own website or other third-party destination.
When you follow an outbound link, you leave the Site and are subject to that third party's terms, privacy practices, pricing, availability, and policies. The Bureau does not operate partner websites and does not control their content or services.
Some outbound links on the Site are tracked through short redirect URLs so the Bureau can understand which listings visitors choose. Tracking is for destination marketing and reporting; it does not create a booking or payment relationship with Discover DeSoto.
4. No booking, reservations, or payments
Discover DeSoto does not check live availability, take reservations, process payments, or sell tickets. Any booking, reservation, purchase, or payment happens on a partner's own site or through that partner directly.
Always confirm hours, pricing, availability, accessibility details, and other critical information with the partner before you visit or commit to plans.
5. Accounts and sign-in
Some Trip Planner features require a free visitor account. You can sign in with a one-time magic link sent to your email address. We do not use passwords for visitor accounts on this Site.
Without an account, you may send a limited number of Trip Planner messages. After that limit, you must sign in to continue chatting. Signed-in visitors have a separate daily message limit.
When signed in, you may save places and events to a trip list tied to your account, view that list across visits, and update a display name in your profile. You may log out at any time from your profile.
You are responsible for maintaining access to the email address you use to sign in and for activity that occurs under your account.
6. AI Trip Planner
The Site includes an AI Trip Planner that suggests places and events from the curated Discover DeSoto directory and links out to partners. The Trip Planner recommends and links only. It does not check live availability, take reservations, process payments, or provide a voice interface.
Anonymous visitors may send up to three Trip Planner messages. To continue chatting, you must sign in with an email magic link. Signed-in visitors may send up to fifteen Trip Planner messages per calendar day (America/Chicago time).
AI-generated suggestions can be incomplete or incorrect. Treat Trip Planner output as helpful guidance, not a guarantee. Verify important details with each partner before you rely on them.
Saved trip items are stored in your account on Bureau systems when you are signed in. Trip Planner conversation history may also be stored in your browser for convenience; see the Privacy Policy.
7. Content accuracy and changes
We work to keep directory, event, and editorial information current, but hours, menus, event schedules, partner websites, and other details can change without notice. The Site may contain typographical errors or outdated information.
We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time.
8. Intellectual property
Site text, branding, layout, and original editorial content are owned by or licensed to DeSoto County Convention & Visitors Bureau or Discover DeSoto, except where otherwise noted.
Photography on the Site is a core part of the visitor experience. Photos may be credited to the Bureau, partners, or other rights holders. You may not copy, redistribute, or commercially reuse Site photography or branding without prior written permission, except for ordinary personal, non-commercial use incidental to browsing the Site (such as screenshots for your own trip notes).
9. Third-party services
The Site may rely on third-party services for hosting, database storage, security (such as spam protection), email delivery (including magic-link sign-in), analytics, maps, and AI assistance for the Trip Planner. Your use of those services through the Site is also subject to applicable third-party terms where they apply.
Clicking out to a partner or other external site is at your own discretion.
10. Disclaimers
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, RECOMMENDATIONS, AND LINKS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE BUREAU DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that directory or AI recommendations will meet your expectations.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Bureau and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site, Trip Planner suggestions, or third-party sites and services.
Because partner bookings and transactions occur off-site, the Bureau is not responsible for partner fulfillment, cancellations, charges, or disputes between you and a partner.
12. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Bureau from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your interactions with partner websites and services.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Venue for disputes relating to the Site that may be brought against the Bureau will lie in courts of competent jurisdiction in DeSoto County, Mississippi, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
